What this covers
This policy explains what Chartize collects when you use chartize.app, why, and who else sees it. Chartize is a chart-building tool: you pick a company or fund, we render a chart, and you can export it as an image.
Account information
You sign in with Google or with a single-use link we email you — we never see or store a password. Either way we store your name, email address and account identifier, to keep you signed in and to show your account in the navigation menu. Google supplies your name; if you sign up by email, you type it in when you finish creating your account, and we use it for billing once paid features exist. We don't request or store your Google profile photo.
We email you only about your account: the sign-in or sign-up link you ask for, a welcome message once your account is created, and a goodbye message if you delete it.
Chart data
The tickers, funds, ranges, themes and layouts you choose while building a chart are used to render that chart and, briefly, to enforce fair-use limits on how many charts can be rendered or exported in a given period. We don't sell this activity or share it with data brokers.
We keep a log of each chart, export and search request — what was asked for, when, from which page, and the city and country our host reports for your connection — tied to your account email if you're signed in, or to the random id in the cookie described below if you aren't. It's used to run the service and see what it costs us, and the entries tied to your account are deleted with it.
Analytics
We use Mixpanel to understand how the product is used — which templates are popular, where visitors drop off — so we can improve it. Analytics events are tied to a session or account identifier, not to anything more identifying than what you gave Google when you signed in.
Third-party services
Market data comes from Wisesheets. Fund holdings come from public SEC EDGAR filings. Company logos come from logo.dev. None of these providers receive your account information — only the ticker or fund you asked to chart.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. If you aren't signed in, we set one more cookie holding a random id, so we can count how many free charts you've loaded; it records nothing about you, and the count is kept alongside a one-way hash of your network address, never the address itself. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data to advertisers.
On a free account we count the charts you load, to apply the limit of three every twelve hours. The limit resets at 6 AM and 6 PM in the time zone your browser reports the first time you load a chart, which we keep with your account and don't change afterwards. Both are deleted with your account.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account yourself from your profile page, which removes your account and the charts saved to it. It can't be undone, and you don't need to ask us first.
If you tell us why you left, we keep that answer — the reason you picked and anything you typed — but not your name, address or any other way of linking it back to you. It survives the account precisely because it isn't part of it.
